Career Counseling

Metro Care offers professional, personality, and career assessment services including career and vocational assessment as well as goal-oriented career counseling. Our career and vocational assessments are well beyond what most people experience in high school or college. Each evaluation consists of an initial individual interview with a Metro Care professional, an array of personality and career assessment instruments, an interpretation of these instruments, and an individualized, comprehensive report of your skills, interests, goals, strengths, and challenges. In addition, each evaluation concludes with an individual feedback session in which the client meets with a Metro Care professional to discuss their results and make plans.

These assessments are tailored to fit an individual’s needs, questions, and goals. A comprehensive evaluation is an excellent way to find direction, confidence, and peace of mind before making a commitment to a new career, or making changes in an existing career.

Chemical Dependency and Substance Abuse

Metro Care, in accordance with its partners, helps diagnose and treat chemical and substance abuse and dependency disorders. The program includes an evaluation of a person’s chemical use to determine whether it’s unhealthy and the development of a necessary treatment plan to address the issue using scientific and professional services.

Marriage and Family Counseling

Marriage support is necessary in a variety of different situations. Metro Care helps by working with couples to enhance communication skills as well as explaining the power of connecting with each other and the importance of understanding each other. Metro Care also works with Prepare/Enrich, a premarital assessment program to help couples locate their strengths and challenges.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is similar to individual therapy, but it includes several people and one or two therapists. The therapist chooses people who would benefit from working in a group and who would have a useful influence on the group. Group therapy focuses on interpersonal interactions, so relationship problems are addressed successfully in groups. The goal of group psychotherapy is to help solve emotional difficulties and encourage the personal development of the participants in the group. This type of therapy is beneficial for gaining insight from others into one’s own life experiences, through participation and observation.

Health Psychology

It’s important to feel secure when preparing for the treatment of health care problems. The staff at Metro Care helps to prepare patients for bariatric surgery, cardiac procedures, dialysis and transplantation, spinal implants, and other medical procedures to create successful outcomes. We use life history questionnaires, MMPI-2, Million Behavioral Medical Diagnostic scales (MBMD), Quality of Life Inventory (QOLI), and other psychological measures to help determine a client’s special needs. Following medical events such as heart attacks, strokes, transplants, etc., the Metro Care staff gives support, evaluates mental status, assesses emotional functioning, and helps the case staff prepare for a successful discharge. Working in partnership with clients is extremely important to us.
